Does CrossFit work for you if you are approaching 50, needing to lose weight, and not a "jock?" Maybe you have wondered this, just like Danny did before he started CrossFit. Well we are glad you asked, because YES! Yes it does!! Meet Danny Verdugo, our next #MemberCrushMonday, and a testament to the truth that CrossFit is for anyone!
Here is his story:
"To be honest, curiosity got the best of me to try CrossFit. I live just west of Central Ave and had seen the sign out on the street for some time and decided to check it out. I found the website and corresponded with John. I explained to him my situation (approaching 50, needing to lose weight, and really not a “jock”) and asked if CrossFit would work for me. I met with him and then signed up for the Intro to CrossFit class. Now I attend the regular classes.
As hesitant as I was at first, I’m so glad I stuck with it. The coaches I’ve worked with (John, Lauren and MG) have been fantastic and are very supportive. I can also say that about the other folks that workout there. Everyone has been helpful and friendly, and if you have a question there is always someone there to help. I’m getting a better body and losing weight. As of September 2017, I’ve lost 24 pounds! Who would have known?
Outside of CrossFit, I work at Nationwide Insurance handling Professional and Public Entity Claims. I’m an Arizona native and grew up in Peoria. I have been with the love of my life for 11 years. For work reasons, we also have a home Centreville, VA, so there’s lots of travel between here and there but AZ is home."
We are so glad Danny stuck it out and continued with CrossFit long enough to realize how much he can enjoy it!
