With Mother's Day on our minds, our #MemberCrushMonday is on mom-to-be Jenny Hohman! She is due with their first child, a boy, in July!
Here is her story:
"I’m a native to Arizona. I grew up in a small prison town called Florence, AZ. I did play some college softball at Central Arizona College.
I received my BSN from the University of Arizona in 2007. I moved to Phoenix in 2008. I met my now husband, David, in 2012 and we wed in 2016. We are awaiting the arrival of our first child. I’m one of the five pregnant at our gym who are due in July.
Outside of CrossFit, I work as a nurse on a Bone Marrow Transplant unit and I really enjoy it. When I’m not at work, I’m hanging out with our three dogs at home or tending to our three chickens. I enjoy taking trips to places I’ve never been to and getting away on small vacations to see friends or family.
I became acquainted to Chuckwalla CrossFit through a friend at work (Nicole). I originally inquired, asking for my husband, and she told me about a coach who is currently pregnant and focuses on how to maneuver through CrossFit safely. So my husband and I both tried it out and we really liked how everyone was so welcoming and helpful. I had tried out a CrossFit gym in the past. The coaches were cold and uninterested in showing me the correct ways to perform the lifts. That was my only experience prior to Chuckwalla so I never felt CrossFit was for me. I CrossFit because I enjoy the class structure of it and the fact that you can scale back. There are people who can be competitive if they want to be and if you’re not that type (me), that’s ok too. Also I like that it’s something that my husband and I can do together. I think my favorite workout is the deadlift probably because I better at it than any other lift. Overall, I’m happy I found Chuckwalla CrossFit when I did, because it’s put me in touch with a supportive community of people. It’s also made working out while pregnant more fun!"
