Our #MemberCrushMonday today is Oscar Garcia. Here is his story of how CrossFit is a positive force in his daily life as a husband, dad, civil engineer and youth leader.
"The reason I decided to check out CrossFit for the first time was because I thought it was some kind of group exercise for Christians. I soon realized that was not the case. As it turns out however, going to CrossFit was a lot like going to church. There is a strong sense of community and the people that go are welcoming, encouraging and devoted to something good.
I have been married to my beautiful wife for 10 years and we have a 3-yr old boy and a baby girl on the way. I enjoy congregating at my local church on Central and Hatcher, right down the street from Chuckwalla, where I serve as the youth leader.
I am a "badass" civil engineer at Coe & "Freakin" Van Loo (company motto). Between home, work and church I have very little time to stay physically active which is why I CrossFit. The workouts we do in one hour at Chuckwalla feel like three hours worth by myself at a gym. The workouts are short, searing and to the point. My favorite lift is the deadlift."
