#MemberCrushMonday: Anastasia Campos
Our #MemberCrushMonday this week is on Anastasia Campos, and she is an amazing writer and communicator, so I'm going to let her take it away...
Here is her story:
"Hello! I’m Anastasia. I started at Chuckwalla through my friends Josh and Mindy Danaher. Seeing the resources for moms (postpartum seminars/classes and childcare) on Instagram sealed the deal for me and I signed up in June. I have two girls ages 4 and 2. My claim to fame is my pain-free water birth at home with my second daughter, who was 10 lbs 14 oz! Rebuilding my core after that has taken time and I am still actively working on it two years later. I love how much support there is for moms and postpartum recovery at Chuckwalla!
My favorite lift is probably the deadlift because it’s simple and familiar. I’m still learning all of the CrossFit movements like snatches, kipping, double-unders, etc. All of it takes longer to master than I expect but is especially rewarding once I start to feel confident, add weight and move on to more challenging progressions. I’m slowly working my way back to the level of fitness I was at before I had kids! I keep this picture of me doing a rope climb during a Spartan Race by my desk to remind myself of how amazing it felt to be really strong. Right now I’m working on completing one unassisted pull up so I have a ways to go ;)
I have a passion for film photography, vintage film-making and writing. For work I do social media and blogging for the Division of Fine and Performing Arts at PVCC. I’m interested in the creative process and personal story and dive into those topics on my blog and podcast. You can see my work on my website and on Instagram at @anastasiacampos. My dream day would be spent hiking in the morning with my girls while my husband carries the backpack of my (heavy) old cameras. Then ending up in the city for foreign film, enjoying a meal I didn’t have to make and and a glass of high quality cabernet :D
I CrossFit (I only recently learned that was a verb!) for all of the physical and mental benefits of exercise — like preventing disease and reducing stress. In contrast to other forms of athletics I’ve done, tracking my lifts is one of my favorite parts of CrossFit! Group fitness works for me — it keeps me consistent. The number one thing that sticks out to me about Chuckwalla is the warmth of the people. It is an extremely friendly and welcoming environment with a lot of families raising young kids. The trainers are attentive and good communicators. I’m excited to be training here!"
