This week our #MemberCrushMonday is on Jennifer Lu! She's a new regular to our evening classes, and I really appreciate her ability to have a positive attitude as she embraces the process of health & fitness.
Here is her story:
"I am a registered nurse who works at a psych facility for troubled youth and I teach clinicals to nursing students through Estrella Mountain Community College. I have been a burn nurse, hospice nurse and home health nurse as well. I was previously a special education teacher for 10 years.
I am engaged and getting married in June, and I'm very excited about it! I have 4 great kids-2 are mine and 2 are stepkids.
I enjoy hiking, reading, crocheting and spending time with my kiddos. I plan on going back to school soon to get my nurse practitioner degree. As a youth, I was a decent ice skater and dancer.
I do CrossFit because I've had multiple injuries over the years that have hurt my ability to exercise, caused weight gain and put me behind with my physical fitness and stamina. I am far away from my personal fitness goals, but I am simply happy to show up to the sessions that I do get to. It has taken me several years to get to this point and it might take several years to be able to do the things I used to do. I hope to be able to run well in the future and maintain a good level of physical fitness for the rest of my life.
My favorite CrossFit exercise is jumping rope and rowing."
