#MemberCrushMonday: Lindsey Erickson
Our #MemberCrushMonday this week has us getting to know one of our college students, Lindsey Erickson. She's also an awesome baby-sitter and dog-sitter if you're ever looking for one!
Here is her story:
"I am a nursing student at Grand Canyon University and eventually want to work at Phoenix Children’s Hospital in pediatric oncology. I have always had a passion for kids and helping them in any way I can. I love to watch them grow and walk along side them as they figure out life. I was previously a gymnastics coach for 4 years and loved every minute of it. I taught girls of all ages from mommy and me classes to competitive Xcel girls. Unfortunately I had to give it up in order to pursue the challenge of nursing school.
An interesting fact about me is that I am a triplet and have an adopted 11 year old brother. The three of us are all girls and have completely different personalities. Growing up as a triplet was not always easy and definitely made me the competitive person I am today. We constantly compared ourselves to each other over grades, sports, looks, etc. But we also always have someone to turn to for a caring shoulder, advice, or even just to hang out in silence.
As a child I participated in numerous sports including gymnastics, competitive cheerleading and softball. Upon entering college, I was disappointed that my competitive sports days were over. That was when I discovered CrossFit and was immediately hooked to the competitive environment. I started CrossFit in 2016 and have done it on and off over the years. I have injured my back on several occasions putting me out of CrossFit for months at a time. I have been a member at [2 other local CrossFits] but Chuckwalla is by far my favorite and I am proud to call it home. I have never felt so supported and encouraged in any gym I have ever been at. I love how it challenges me every workout and never gets boring.
My favorite part about CrossFit is barbell workouts. I love anything lifting related and hate anything cardio related. I attend Barbell Club 2-3x a week and have hopes to start competing in Weightlifting in the near future. In addition, I hope to one day get my level 1 CrossFit certification so I can then get my CrossFit Kids certification. This is one way that I can combine my passion for kids and CrossFit all in one."
