#MemberCrushMonday: Jason Flemming
Here is his story:
This week we are following up with an older member and previous Member Crush, Jason Flemming. Here is what he has to say about his time at Chuckwalla since when he first started:
I started at Chuckwalla right after the gym opened about 4 years ago…before there were any murals on the walls, a real childcare area and one bathroom. It was a different looking place but the heart of the gym has stayed the same. I had dabbled with crossfit when I lived in the west valley but was intimidated by the movements and my perception of myself vs the other athletes in the gym so I played it safe and stayed in the beginners classes. Chuckwalla didn’t have “beginners” classes so I was forced to jump in and scale the movements where needed. What I found at Chuckwalla was more than just some weights and rigs…the people were kind, engaging and community driven. Some of my closest friends have come from the relationships I formed at Chuckwalla over the last 4+ years. If you are going to go and do hard things, doing it with your friends is much more fun than doing it alone. There are so many things that I have come to love about crossfit…the competition with myself and others, stress release to tackle life’s challenges at home and work with greater confidence and ease, and being in shape to go after physical challenges like hiking to remote locations and not dying in the process. I genuinely look forward everyday to coming in and pushing myself, laughing with friends, yelling during WOD’s and sweating with some of North Central’s finest.
