#MemberCrushMonday: Amber Snyder

Here is her story:

What is something about you that would surprise us?

I’m a southerner from Memphis originally with a short 8 years in Louisiana before making my way to the desert. My guess is that this isn’t a surprise though because my accent gives me away!

What do you do outside of CrossFit?

I was a school teacher before my son was born and planned to go back to it. However, he turned out to be a little “ high maintenance “ when it comes to his health , etc, so he and his sister have been my calling for the past 12 years. They’ve been the most rewarding and best character building project God could have assigned me. I wouldn’t change a thing ..

What do you enjoy?

Spending time with my kids and husband ... listening to podcasts or reading books ... traveling with my husband , family or friends .... I do enjoy my workouts when they are done ... I have to give myself a little pep talk to get there but I’m always glad I did.

Why do you CrossFit?

When I reached my mid 40’s, I started really becoming unfit. I gained weight over time and felt pretty weak. I had never been confident enough to try weights but decided to try it in a group fitness class with my husband a couple of years ago.This CrossFit gym is similar to our original group fitness classes in that people are very encouraging and the coaches are great and will modify the exercises so that I can have a successful workout even if I can’t do some of the “moves” yet. 😉

What is your favorite lift/workout?

I am going to say my favorite is bench press. It is my weakest skill right now, so I look forward to seeing improvement as I grow stronger!
