#MemberCrushMonday: AJ Blusiewicz.
Here is his story! "Hi everyone, my name is AJ Blusiewicz (don’t worry about the last name). I am 38 years old (gulp…but feel 28) and dad to two amazing kiddos, my son Parker and daughter Jordan. I grew up in the small town of Oswego, IL but moved out here for my senior year of high school in 2000. I convinced my parents to do this so I could achieve my childhood dream and have a chance of swimming for ASU. Somehow it all worked out and by the end of my senior year of high school, I was invited to walk on and swim for ASU for the next 4 years. What a ride it was! I've lived in Central PHX going on 11 years now. When I’m not at the gym, I’m spending time with my children, taking them to sports practices/games, reading (almost done with Harry Potter – Order of the Phoenix), cooking (I don’t have a favorite thing to cook… I love to create), attempting DYI projects around the house, spending time with friends, and playing golf when I can spare an extra 6 hours on a weekend when I don’t have my kids...hint…it’s not often!
Chuckwalla, wow, where do I start? I joined Chuckwalla in August of 2018 at one of the lowest points in my life (no need for details, just life in full effect). At this point, I had already been Crossfiting for 2 years but it was time for me to find a new place to call home. Crazy enough, this gym was not my first choice, I had actually already signed up to join another gym. The morning after I had signed up elsewhere, my gut was telling me something different was supposed to happen. Pause for life advice…trust your gut! I walked into Chuckwalla the next afternoon and I instantly knew this was my new home. I’ve been here now for 3 ½ years and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. It is such an amazing community of people and healthy competition, I couldn’t ask for anything more. Staying active has been a part of my life since I was a kid and I have no intention of stopping anytime soon! Being a competitive swimmer for most of my life, Crossfit was an ideal fit to continue my fitness journey.
My motivation for showing up is easy, it’s my kids. I want to be a good role model for my kids so as they grow up they have memories of their dad always exercising and eating healthy with hopes that they’ll follow in my footsteps. I enjoy Back Squat the most because my legs can always get stronger! I also enjoy any of the benchmark workouts and Murph as well. My goals this year at Chuckwalla are to beat my best Murph time and consistently hit 15 days a month and maybe sprinkle in a competition or two. Consistency and Discipline are key….just keep showing up."
