#MemberCrushMonday: Brandon Swiers
What do you do with your time, for work, play, etc?
I work as a 9-12th grade special education and credit retrieval teacher. Basically I help students with mild-moderate disabilities with success in school, vocationally, and social/emotionally. I also work with students who have failed classes and are prone to dropping out. I help them get missing credits. I am into everything outdoors and physically related. I (obviously) enjoy functional fitness, avid runner, and hiker. I have completed a full marathon, half, and multiple 5ks as well as a few CrossFit competitions. My wife and I take road trips to national parks and out of country trips as frequently as possible. We have been all around the US, Canada, New Zealand, and Mexico.
What is something about you that would surprise us?
My family is legally allowed to not own property in Switzerland due to family history in the 1700-1800s.
How do you make a difference in the community? I babysit your adolescent children all day while you’re at work! Just kidding. But I really do... I enjoy encouraging others to be and do their best at whatever it is they’re doing. I try to make others laugh when everything in the world sucks. I love to help out with whatever is needed.
Why do you choose to workout at Chuckwalla?
I got tired of only running, everything else was closed, and Keith & Laura go here!
What is your favorite lift/workout?
Deadlifts. Simple, and I don’t have to think much. Maybe running and deadlifts combined!
"I am grateful to be apart of an awesome community that is supportive and pushes me to do my best."
