What do you do with your time, for work, play, etc?
Work, jazzercise at Chuckwalla, chase my kiddo around, hang out with my wife, eat, sleep and repeat. My wife and I met in DC and moved to AZ to work together but for different organizations developing technology and startups for national security purposes. Finding new food spots and being an amateur food critics is a part time hobby. We travel as much as we can… and when we can’t, I knock things off the never ending honeydo list.
What is something about you that would surprise us?
With all the work on our house I think I’ve become an expert amateur arborist. I judge people based on their behavior at a 4-way stop and shopping cart return habits. AND you could probably trick me into a wet bag with a plate of bacon and peanut butter.
How do you make a difference in the community?
Public service means a lot to me - I’ve served in the military, federal service, Americorps, litany of volunteering, and established a non-profit community farm in downtown Mesa. I do the work that I do because I believe in Arizona and our community…this is our space and place, hold it down.
Why do you choose to workout at Chuckwalla?
Birds of a feather… CrossFit gyms are a self selecting group of people willing to pay to kick the shit out of themselves - I dig those kind of people. Chuckwalla is a hidden gem — John/Lauren and co. were super welcoming, the gym has legit athletes that aren’t obnoxious about it, every single member I’ve met is a solid human, and the gym is uniquely family oriented… I knew it was a place for me.
How does Chuckwalla help you be strong for life?
I have an raging inner fat kid that jazzercise keeps in check plus lifting heavy things…
What is your favorite lift/workout?
Anything that is a long grinding and generally miserable workout.
