#MemberCrushMonday: Edith Garcia
Here is her story...
"My name is Edith. As a stay at home mom, my days consist mostly of cooking and cleaning, playing board games (mostly Trouble), watching Moana, saving the world through superhero transformation adventures, nurturing and disciplining. Prior to that I was a special education teacher and as such I had the privilege of serving many students with varying disabilities. My experience in the classroom along with my training and education opened the doors for me to now teach undergraduate students at Grand Canyon University in the College of Education. Because I teach online, I have the freedom of working before, after, or in between the endeavors mentioned above.
Something about me that might surprise you is that I, along with my husband, lived as a missionary in Cusco, Peru. While there, we got to visit Macchu Picchu, Lake Titicaca, and many other incredible wonders. This has been one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life.
I choose to workout at Chuckwalla because I believe you need a healthy body in order to have a healthy mind and spirit. I believe they go together. As fitness and health are becoming a lifestyle, I am proud of the habits we as a family are establishing. I love the idea that my children will see exercise as a normal part of life.
My favorite lift is the bench press. There is something about lifting that heavy load off of me that makes me feel fiercely strong even as I’m shaking and fighting to extend my elbows to gain one more rep or a new personal record."
