Here is his story:
What do you do outside of Chuckwalla?
I work for a civil engineering company. I’ve been in that field for almost twenty years. Apart from work, I enjoy hiking, going to the gym, reading, walking around the neighborhood with my family and playing games with them.
What is something about you that would surprise us?
I’m missing part of my fingers on my left hand due to a lawn mower accident when I was in middle school. Another fun fact- when I as a kid, I found the remains of a wooly mammoth in Kansas where I grew up.
What do you enjoy?
I enjoy learning, growing and being a better version of myself. I accomplish this through reading and listening to podcasts and audio books… and CrossFit.
Why do you workout at Chuckwalla?
I’ve wanted to try CrossFit for a while. However, I was afraid of making my joint injuries worst. I decided last summer to join Octane CrossFit by my work. Turns out I was wrong. My body hasn’t felt this stable and strong in years.
I was going there for about six months until I broke my leg in January. Then, coronavirus came along and forced me to work remotely from home. I really wanted to get back into the gym and Chuckwalla is close to where I live.
Since joining, I’ve realized how much I like being here. Everyone has made me feel like part of the community. The programming has been working great for me. I’m seeing gains in almost all my lifts in just a short amount of time.
What is your favorite lift/workout?
I don’t have a favorite lift. I enjoy working on my form and getting stronger with each movement. One of my favorite aspects to CrossFit workouts is the metcon. Building a better engine and grinding through the workouts is a love/hate relationship.
