#MemberCrushMonday: Philip Lake
Here is his story:
What do you do with your time, for work, play, etc? I work in commercial real estate, running the Phoenix office for a Dallas-based company. We own and manage apartment complexes and most of my work is oriented around our acquisition efforts. I love golf and have tried to get my kids and wife addicted as well so that it increases my opportunity to play. I've been moderately successful at that effort. Generally, my free time, at least on the weekends, is oriented around my kids' activities. My 9 year old son is active with club soccer and golf an other sports so that takes a lot of the free time. Additionally, my 14 year old daughter, 7 year old daughter and 5 year old son, also add plenty of excitement to keep our schedules pretty full. We also try and get up to our place in Pinetop on a regular basis.
What is something about you that would surprise us? I have had two literal near-death experiences. Both involved vehicles and being on a highway. One was when I was 16 and was going to snowboarding in Wisconsin. The second, was on our drive out here when were relocating from Chicago.
How do you make a difference in the community? We built our family through foster care/adoption. Our four children are all siblings, but we adopted them in groups of two over the course of a few years.
Why do you choose to workout at Chuckwalla? Drew Cottrell convinced me to give Chuckwalla a try and I've loved it from the first workout!
How does Chuckwalla help you be strong for life? I've worked out plenty in my life, but it's typically been running oriented or for the past several years. I also been an active Pilates user, but I've never been a "weights" guy and have always felt uncomfortable lifting weights. Chuckwalla has been incredible for helping me learn to strength train, which has been instrumental in helping my running and my golf game!
What is your favorite lift/workout? I like back squats or deadlifts.
