#MemberCrushMonday: Samantha Vleerick
Here is her story:
"Hi, I’m Samantha Vleerick @svleerick! I am a mom of two fun and feisty young ladies, Sloane (5) and Estelle (3). My husband and I are originally from Western New York and moved to Phoenix in 2013 to be closer to family and get out of the long, cold, and dark winters. I lead Merchandising software implementations at Sprouts Farmers Market. It is a fun and very busy job, which means I am a loyal member of the 5:00am/5:30am classes.
I have been training at Chuckwalla since summer 2016, however I’ve been doing “CrossFit” since 2010. After having my first daughter in 2015 I was working out at home, while I tried to find the new-mom/working-mom balance, but I really started to miss the group environment that pushes me to go faster and heavier. I was looking for a gym that offered childcare and found Chuckwalla! Throughout my pregnancy with my second daughter, John and Lauren were amazing sources of information that allowed me to continue to train safely. I like to joke that Estelle was born a natural athlete because I trained regularly up until 2 weeks before she was born! Side note, her labor was only 2 hours, which I also attribute to the physical preparation I was doing throughout her pregnancy.
My favorite movement is the Kettlebell Snatch. To me, it is the perfect balance between strength and cardio. One day when I grow up, I would like to lead Kettlebell classes. It’s all about technique and practice, practice, practice!
Chuckwalla makes me strong for LIFE! As a working mom of 2, I gain not only physical strength, but mental strength that helps me get through sometimes very long and challenging days."
