#MemberCrushMonday: Sarabeth Roberto
What do you do with your time, for work, play, etc?
I am a nurse practitioner working in family medicine. I conduct annual physical exams as well as manage chronic conditions. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, I was an ER nurse for 6 years. I also started to dabble in entrepreneurship as I own a telemedicine clinic for weight loss focusing on treatment with peptides and appetite suppressants.
For fun, I enjoy hiking Arizona trails when it is not scorching hot. I also like to travel. I try to go to one place I have never been to once a year. I am hoping to get back into doing that as the world starts to open up again.
What is something about you that would surprise us? My very first backpacking trip was to Havasu falls at the Grand Canyon. It was a difficult 10 mile hike down the canyon, but once you got to the falls, it was all worth it. It was absolutely breathtaking and out of this world! You wouldn’t think a place like that exists right here in Arizona!
How do you make a difference in the community? I like to think I make a difference by encouraging my patients to live a healthy lifestyle.
Why do you choose to workout at Chuckwalla? I enjoy CrossFit! I like the challenge and that everyday is different and that you can never plateau! Because as soon as you think you got a workout down, there’s another difficulty level that gets thrown at you. I love it! I actually discovered CrossFit when I lived in Prescott Valley in 2018 to 2019. But then I moved back to Phoenix and have been looking for a CrossFit gym here in the valley for almost 1 year. Luckily, my new job happens to be 5 miles away from Chuckwalla and so I took a trial class and enjoyed it. I enjoy the community here at Chuckwalla. Everyone here has been welcoming. I know I am not an athlete, just trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle so it is important for me to find a gym community that supports that.
How does Chuckwalla help you be strong for life?
What does it not do to help me be stronger! From a healthcare standpoint, metabolic conditioning helps with my cardiovascular strength and weightlifting also promotes bone strength. Not to mention I feel good overall everytime I leave from a workout. It also builds my confidence as I usually surprise myself after I complete a workout, like, wow, I just did that!
What is your favorite lift/workout? I would say my favorite lift is power cleans and back squats.
