#MemberCrushMonday: Sean Connolly
Here is his story:
What do you do with your time, for work, play, etc?
I work with the US Army and I am currently the deputy commander for the USACE South Pacific Boarder district. I love spending time with my wife and two boys Owen (3) Levi (18th months). Both were born in Germany while my wife and I were living there the past 5 years. I love to get outside, bike ride, hike, camp, hunt and be in the water. Really enjoy scuba or being in the ocean any chance I get.
What is something about you that would surprise us?
My life has been an adventure so far for sure, I have been homeless, but also lived some of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the world. I have been on cattle drives, kicked by bulls, been bitten by a shark and poetry published. I have been in 3 wars, worked as a body guard in riots and served over 25 years with the army, but owe everything I am to the love and generosity of others.
How do you make a difference in the community?
Unfortunately not enough. I love opportunities to mentor younger men and serve the Lord by helping others, but unfortunately I have failed to get connected since moving back to Phoenix in January 2020.
Why do you choose to workout at Chuckwalla?
I love the community there. They have great challenging programs, with a great team of coaches and athletes training for life.
What is your favorite lift/workout? What are your current fitness goals?
My primary fitness goal is to train for the challenges of what 2021 will bring. Secondary is to compete in a couple of triathlons if life allows.
What fitness accomplishment are you most proud of?
Over the past few years I have involved in Tactical sporting events and out performing 18-20 year olds.
What keeps you motivated / disciplined?
Working with friends on the same goals as a team.
Any favorite sayings /motivational quotes?
“I prefer peace. But if trouble must come, let it come in my time, so that my children can live in peace”
“I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?' And I said, 'Here am I. Send me!'” Isaiah 6:8
