Here is their story:

We are brand new to CrossFit and love it! When we’re not working out, Steven spends his work life running a behavioral health agency called Southwest Behavioral Health. He is a strong, passionate, and respectful leader. When I’m not working out, I’m still working out raising our two tiny humans—Nelson and Palmer. I used to teach 2nd grade but decided to leave the classroom and jumped at the opportunity to stay at home after having our son. As a family, we enjoy being outdoors, being active, and trying new restaurants.

What do you do with your time, for work, play, etc? Steven- I played baseketball, ran cross country and played soccer in high school. I have played guitar for over twenty years and love collecting and trying new whiskey. Morgan- I pole valuted in high school. I never made it over the 6 foot bar so I gave up and took up regular track and field. I also really enjoy making food and food writing. How do you make a difference in the community? Steven- I am a strong believer that the most effective way to help others is to make sure you are taking care of yourself. Promoting and living out a healthy work/life balance is very important to me. I am pretty much a text book 'type A' personality - so sometimes I need a gentle (or not so gentle) reminder to relax and enjoy the unpredictability of life. Morgan- As a teacher I spent many years making a difference daily in my community. Right now my only students are my children, but my hope is that I impact my community by raising kind, respectful humans who know and love God.

Why do you choose to workout at Chuckwalla? How does Chuckwalla help you be strong for life? Steven- This is my first try at CrossFit. Before the year long break from everything (the vid-break) I enjoyed going to the gym and I also enjoy running. I started running behind Morgan's back prior to having children. She would leave early for work and I had plenty of time to sneak out and go for a 5-10 mile run. When I go for a run I enjoy trail running or finding new routes through neighborhoods or on the canal. Morgan- I decided to get involved in CrossFit as I was looking for something to supplement endurance running training and knew that I needed to rebuild my body after having our second kid. I visited Sol CrossFit last February for two weeks with my neighbor but then the world shut down and a month later we got pregnant. As soon as we had our baby I knew if we were ever going to get back into the gym, I wanted to do CrossFit. Steven- CrossFit is the perfect beginning to my day (after a couple cups of coffee), or it is the best way to end my day from work. It clears my mind and prepares me for whatever is next. I am so glad Morgan pushed me to try it! Morgan- I felt so weak after having our second kid. Within the first couple of classes, I noticed that lifting my kids into their car seats and doing daily activities with them didn’t take as much mental or physical energy. I know I’m getting stronger physically, but more importantly CrossFit helps me get mentally stronger each day.

What is your favorite lift/workout? Steven- I'm not sure there is a workout I don't like! All! Morgan-So far, my favorite is the Filthy Fifty. #ChuckwallaStrong #EveryoneHasAPlace #ChuckwallaFitnessCommunity
