#MemberCrushMonday: Tracy Lyons

Our #MemberCrushMonday this week is on one of our newer ladies, Tracy Lyons. Even though she is new to CrossFit/lifting she is already one of our strongest ladies!!

 

 

 

Here is her story:

 

"I am married to Tommy, my husband of almost 19 years. We love getting out camping , hiking, and adventuring any chance we get. We have five children, ranging in age from 15 1/2 to 2 years old. (One who has his driver's permit, and one still in diapers... Quite the spread.)  Our family is honored to have loved on litte ones in the foster system here in Phoenix since 2011... And we have been blessed to adopt two little ones out of the foster care system. I have also had the privilege of serving as the "Children and Youth director" for the Phoenix-Central Community Bible Study class for the past 2 years. My typical day consists of driving my kids to and from school, working out at Chuckwalla, changing diapers, playing with my kids, eating lots of salad (this great and challenging program I committed to), quizzing kids on spelling words, diffusing sibling squabbles, trying to cheer on and encourage my husband and kids every day. I really enjoy fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies with milk, and iced americanos from Starbucks (or any coffee).

 

Something about me that would surprise you: I have run 4 full marathons and 4 half marathons... the first of the full marathons, I ran in January 2004 at the inaugural Rock and Roll Marathon here in Phoenix while 11 weeks pregnant with my son Calvin.

 

I CrossFit because it is very physically challenging, which I enjoy... And I am trying to get back to a healthy place and take care of me a little better. (I am signing up for the January half marathon, and I'm looking forward to being back in good enough shape to run it and feel good finishing it.)  Also, I have really enjoyed the community aspect... With all the great people, mom's, and little ones that my 2 year-old gets to play with while I'm working out.

 

 

My favorite CrossFit lifts would probably be the bench press. (It is one of the only lifts I actually did as a younger person, having grown up with three older brothers... so it is a little familiar to me, and I feel comfortable and confident doing it.)  "Work out"-wise... the harder the better... And I'm really trying to get my core back in shape, so any of the ab workouts would probably be my current favorite."
