#MemberCrushMonday: Nicole Thompson
Nicole has been a member for just about 2 months, and I have to say, her story is one of my all time favorites. She joined through the 30 Day Fit Launch back in July, and worked hard to achieve some great results, losing 2% body fat and starting a group exercise routine!
Here is her story:
"I'm a mom of 4 and have been married for 15 years to the cutest guy around. I’m a nurse with most of my background in ICU and the ER and I love making a difference in peoples lives.
I grew up in Phoenix and left for a few years for college but otherwise I’m stuck here surrounded by a ton of family and friends. I’m a super extrovert- like super. We love hosting people at our house and playing games and generally being very loud (4 kids will do that). We go to church at Open Door Fellowship and are pretty involved there.
I really don’t like exercise, or pushing my body or being sweaty (eww!!) and never could have imagined myself in CrossFit. I’ve never been an athlete but always wanted to stay healthy and I’m getting so old I needed to do something!! I’m learning to let the coaches and my fellow workout buddies encourage me to do more and push myself- but I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to do a handstand push-up!
I like trying new things but I’m also cautious- so my new things are never very crazy.
I’m totally type A and constantly threaten to bring my label maker into the gym.
I’m a foodie and love trying local restaurants so I’ll take any suggestions!
I make my own kombucha if anyone needs a SCOBY!
The first full, non on-ramp WOD I did, I was so exhausted and of course the last one done, and someone came and did sit ups next to me so I wouldn’t be alone at the end. That’s when I knew that no one was watching me to compare or because I looked like an idiot, which I’m sure I do, but to encourage me. I’m so thankful for a place I can fail and sweat and lift way less than everyone and that all of it is totally ok.
