#MemberCrushMonday: Lacey Church
Here is her story:
What do you do outside of CrossFit?
I love to hike (aka find the perfect set of trees to post up in my hammock), do yoga, rock climb, find weird little art towns to explore, and I'm a total book nerd. I like to spend time with people I love and enjoy good company. And of course, get outside as much as I can with my dog, Vega!
What is something about you that would surprise us?
I used to be in a circus! Stilt acrobatics and aerial silks were my jam.
What do you enjoy?
I enjoy the little things. I like to take time to notice the details of life and pay attention to things I might take for granted.
Why do you CrossFit?
One thing I love about CrossFit is that it changes with me. My reason for doing it has changed so much over the years. Currently, I CrossFit to help keep my body and mind strong and to learn patience with myself. I was recently diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that broke down much of my muscle mass so I am working on getting my strength back, which takes a lot of patience!
What is your favorite CrossFit lift/workout?
This is another thing that has changed over the years. Right now, my favorite lift is the snatch. I like the focus and technique it requires. Also, patience. More patience.
I would like to say thank you to John and all the lovely members at Chuckwalla. It was hard for me to get back into CrossFit after my health issues and watching my strength and physical health deteriorate was challenging. John has been so helpful and supportive in talking to me through my fears and listening to me vent. The members have been welcoming and encouraging and I have been met with nothing but open arms. It created a safe space for me to start my repair and I couldn't be more grateful. You all are wonderful!
